FAQ

CPM Calculator, answered.

How do you calculate CPM?

CPM means cost per thousand views of your ad. Divide what you spent by the number of impressions, then multiply by 1,000. Spend 500 for 250,000 impressions and the CPM is 2. This tool also runs backwards, from a target CPM to the budget it needs.

What is the CPM formula?

The formula is (cost / impressions) x 1000. The x 1000 is the useful bit. The cost of one single impression has too many zeros to compare at a glance, so everyone quotes it per thousand instead.

Is a 20 CPM high?

It depends on the platform and how narrow the audience is. Broad awareness inventory can sit in the low single figures. A tight B2B audience on LinkedIn can pass 100. Judge it against your own account history from the same quarter last year.

How do CPM, CPC and CTR relate to each other?

They are three views of the same numbers: CPC = CPM / (CTR x 10), with CTR as a percentage. Lift your click-through rate and your cost per click falls even if the CPM never moves. That is why this tool solves all three at once.

Where this stops being a calculator

Your ad account and your analytics will disagree about what a campaign spent and what it earned. We find the gap, close it, and put both numbers on one dashboard.
